Diego Armando Maradona

Diego Armando Maradona never had fear or hesitation in recognizing his political ideals. Che Guevara was always his greatest reference, and the legacy of Eva Perón and the struggle of the working class in Argentina deeply influenced the idol from a very young age.

Always direct, speaking clearly, he did not care if he had to criticize a president, congressman or athlete, and although he never held a political position, he knew very well how to relate to them.

The Hand of God against the English

The conflict between Argentina and the United Kingdom in the war for the Falkland Islands (Malvinas) in 1982 filled him with courage and determination in the match played by both countries years later in the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.

In that match, the famous "Hand of God" and the goal considered one of the best in the history of soccer gave the victory to the Argentine national team, and the football legend himself described it as "revenge".

Diego mingled with leaders from around the world, such as the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. However, he considered Latin American presidents Evo Morales and the late Hugo Chávez and Fidel Castro to be his friends.
