The President of the German Football Federation (DFB), Fritz Keller, said that the German team can grow from the analysis of the 6-0 defeat suffered last night against Spain.
"Last night we experienced a black night in Sevilla that hurt us all, the viewers at home, me, the coach," said Keller in a statement released through the DFB's website.
"After the game, I was in the locker room and I felt the disproportionate disappointment. But I also felt the will to correct things. Our young team can grow from this setback if the match, in which not only attitude was lacking, is analyzed to draw the necessary conclusions," he added.
Keller said that the DFB and the coaching staff had bet on renewal and on giving opportunities to players with little experience, which, he added, "as seen, can be a difficult path with painful defeats."
"But even though we all would have wanted the team to end a year that had been successful until now in a different way, the challenge remains to form a strong team to face the next three tournaments: this year's Euro Cup, the 2022 World Cup, and the next Euro Cup at home," he said.
According to several German media outlets, Keller met this morning with the coach Joachim Löw and the director of national teams Oliver Bierhoff to analyze the situation.
At the end, the media reports point out that the conclusion reached is that the coach should remain in his position at least until the Euro Cup. EFE
