Levante and Celta express their bad moment with VAR controversy included
Levante UD and Celta de Vigo reflected their bad gameplay moment on the pitch of La Cerámica with a 1-1 draw that, although allows them to break a losing streak, barely helps them improve in the standings after a match with VAR controversy included in extra time.
With a 1-1 tie on the scoreboard, a goal by Dani Gómez was disallowed by the referee after consulting VAR and considering that Roger Martí was in an offside position and blocking the visiting goalkeeper's vision in the shot, which generated the indignation of Levante fans.
From the start, Levante applied high pressure that caused problems for Celta in the ball recovery and also resulted in a certain comfort for the Valencian team in the creative line.
Roger Martí and Sergio Carreira scored the goals
The second half couldn't have started better for Levante or worse for Celta. Less than a minute into the game, a foul by Nolito on Miramón meant a penalty that Roger Martí converted into a goal.
But far from sinking Celta, the goal led to an improvement in the game and intensity of the visiting team, and after a good chance by Aspas that was saved with a foot by Aitor, the equalizer came through the young Carreira, who took advantage of a cross from the left wing by Denis Suárez that went across the area.
As the second half progressed, the match remained without a clear owner. Neither Levante nor Celta managed to take control of the game and both teams resorted to a more direct style of play without managing to threaten in attack. In extra time, Levante scored through Dani Gómez, but the referee, after consulting VAR, disallowed the goal, resulting in the final tie on the scoreboard.
