The Basilea arrived at the match with the reputation of having one of the best defenses in the competition but was soon behind on the scoreboard precisely due to a collective defensive mistake. In the end, they conceded as many goals in one night as they had throughout the competition.

A corner kick in the 2nd minute gave Shakhtar the advantage. Junior Moraes headed the ball, completely unmarked inside the area, taking advantage of Marlos' cross.

The defense failed in marking, goalkeeper Djordje Nikolik failed in the exit, and Basilea had to play against the current almost from the beginning of the match.

Then there was a brief phase in which Basilea tried to react with fast attacks and had a good chance to equalize two minutes later with a header from Cabral, assisted by Frei.

In the 12th minute, Pululu had another chance with a deflected shot after leaving two men behind.

However, Shakhtar managed to take control of the match through ball possession and territorial domination.

In the 20th minute, Junior Moraes came close to scoring the second goal with a slightly deflected shot and in the 22nd minute, Taison increased the lead.

The play started with a failed cross from Junior Moraes, who couldn't find Marco Antonio, but Marlos saved the ball on the other side of the area and passed it to the center for Taison to decide from the edge of the area.

Shakhtar was dominating and seemed closer to the third goal than Basilea to the discount. In the 40th minute, only the crossbar saved Basilea from Marco Antonio's shot.

In the second half, the match continued in the same vein. Basilea had moments but Shakhtar remained more dangerous and played with the tranquility that the accumulated advantage gave them in the first half.

The sentence came in the 75th minute, through a penalty converted by Allan Patrick after Marchand fouled Taison.

Dodo scored the fourth goal in the 88th minute and Basilea's discount, in the second minute of stoppage time, scored by Wolfswinkel, was only for statistics.
