became today the world champion of Longboard after defeating the two-time title winner, American Taylor Jensen, in China. Our compatriot had won this trophy in 2013.
"I feel amazing," said Clemente. "After being eliminated early in last year's competition, I felt frustrated. That's why I trained very hard this year and there are the results. The waves have been incredible all day," added the Peruvian.
In the final heat, Clemente scored 18.30. Jensen worked hard in the last minutes to try to surpass that score, but only reached 17.70. Thus, Piccolo was able to celebrate.
"Taylor and I met at an event in Japan earlier this year. He is very talented, an incredible competitor. I have great respect for him and I am happier to have beaten him," said Piccolo after leaving the water.
