Thierry Henry pays tribute to George Floyd during a soccer match
Henry was the protagonist when he wore the "Black Lives Matter" shirt and during the first 8 minutes and 46 seconds of the match, he kneeled with his left knee on the ground and the fist of his right arm raised, in honor of George Floyd, who died while in the custody of the Minneapolis police.
The act had strong symbolism, as that amount of time is how long Floyd was under the control of multiple police officers, which limited his ability to breathe and ultimately caused his death.
Henry is another sports figure who expresses support for the fight against racism, a battle that has intensified in recent months with large and historic protests worldwide.
