Denis Dau: The Ten Commandments that must appear in the new Sports Law.

Politics and politicians should disappear from sports areas.

Politics and politicians should disappear from sports areas.

Let's get straight to the development of this column.

1. Each provincial sports federation should have no more than nine members: president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and five board members. The president should be a leader with strong character, and if she is a lady, she should be firm in her decisions. They should be remunerated, without political bias, evaluated in the field of massification, in achieving titles, and they should work eight hours a day between the office and visiting venues. Any acquisition of equipment and infrastructure over $50,000 must have the approval of the Controller General's Office and their entity should be audited annually.

2. Provincial associations should be elected by clubs that demonstrate having had activities in the last three years, at least in three sports; otherwise, they will not be allowed to participate in elections. Clubs are the heart of every organization.

3. Provincial federations should be elected by the associations and by four representatives from the cantonal leagues, who, being 25, should meet and decide four names. And nobody else, please.

4. Provincial federations should be autonomous, promote the presence of clubs in educational centers, neighborhoods, and cantons. Embrace and motivate volunteers who play a major role in the world of sports.

5. It would be a crime in broad daylight not to consider the athletes who have achieved and continue to bring glory with gold, silver, and bronze medals, for them to receive financial pensions.

6. There should be exemptions from payment of electricity and drinking water in all sports venues in the country.

7. Ecuadorian sports federations should be autonomous and their authorities should be elected by the provincial associations and work with the Ecuadorian Olympic Committee, to which their autonomy must be respected due to historical reasons.

8. State entities should not weaken, with ambiguous arguments, the outlined programs that lead athletes to the podium.

9. There are two organizations that should retire: the Student Federation and the National Sports Federation, and their programs should be transferred to the provincial federations.

10. The 5% tax on phone calls should be reinstated for the benefit of sports. The Controller General's Office should audit annually, without sponsorship, all the organizations involved in the new Sports Law.

And finally, in a separate point, politics and politicians should disappear from sports areas.

No more words... (O)
