Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba fires coach Mario Sciacqua
Just like previous coaches Marcelo Gomez and Lucas Bernardi, the 'tombino' team made the decision to dismiss Mario Sciacqua from his position. The announcement was made last night on the club's social media.
"Club Deportivo Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba informs that Mario Sciacqua is no longer the coach of our first team, by mutual agreement with our directors. From our institution, we only have words of gratitude for Sciacqua and his coaching staff for their commitment and demonstrated work during the time they defended our shield," explains Godoy Cruz in the announcement.
Sciacqua, 49 years old, took over in December last year and managed to coach only eight games with three victories and five defeats in the Superliga and the first round of the Copa Superliga.
"They want to tarnish my name, I will not return to Godoy Cruz. I can be a better or worse coach, I can accept that they want someone else, but I will not allow them to say that I did not want to lower my salary. When, if there is something I possess, it's solidarity," said Sciacqua himself in statements to Doble Amarilla.
The reference made by the former coach of Godoy Cruz is towards Jorge Almiron, who according to the Mendoza media, would be the chosen one by President Juan Mansur to return to the 'Tomba' bench after his first spell at the club in the 2013/14 season.
