The coronavirus pandemic has delayed the completion of the leagues in Europe. However, the Romanian League seems to be close to actually finishing its season. According to La Gazeta Sporturilor, a sports newspaper in the country, the Romanian Football Federation and the tournament's organizing committee have agreed to move the teams to Antalya, Turkey to play all the remaining matches.
According to the newspaper, the idea is for the matches to start in June and finish the season at the end of July, without affecting their calendar too much and having the teams that qualify for international tournaments and the relegated teams defined.
This information is still under evaluation as the proposal has received some criticism, like that of Florin Prunea, coach of Dinamo Bucarest, who finds the idea of moving to Turkey crazy. "It would be a disgrace and I don't think it will happen. In July, it's 45 degrees in Antalya," said the coach angrily.
According to calculations by the aforementioned Romanian newspaper, the operation would have a total cost of 2 million euros to move all the clubs over a thousand kilometers from the Romanian borders, where they would be relocated to finish the season in a month.
