The shirt with which Thierry Henry scored his 100th goal with Arsenal has been auctioned for 16,000 pounds (about 18,000 euros) that will go to the NHS, the UK public health service, which has been fighting against Covid-19.
The auction was announced by former Welsh international and former player for Leicester City and Blackburn Rovers among others, Robbie Savage.
Henry scored 228 goals during his career at Arsenal and reached 100 in a match against Birmingham, who Savage was playing for at the time, in 2013.
The story behind this shirt is that, as Savage revealed in the past, Henry did not know that he had reached 100 goals in that match and exchanged shirts with the Welshman at the end of the match.
When he found out, he asked for the shirt back, but Savage had already left. A few days ago, Savage offered to return it to Henry and both players agreed that the best option was to auction it and raise funds for the NHS.
