COVID-19: Individuals will not perform military service in South Korea during the coronavirus.

The forward arrived in his country at the end of March.

Heung-min Son will carry out mandatory military service taking advantage of the suspension of English football due to the coronavirus, his club, Tottenham Hotspur, announced on Monday.

Son received permission from the South Korean government to not complete the full service, after winning the gold medal with the national team at the 2018 Asian Games. However, he still has to complete four weeks of military service, which he will do during the Premier League's suspension period.

"The club can confirm that Heung-min Son will begin his mandatory military service in South Korea this month. The forward returned to his country at the end of March and is currently in quarantine. Our medical team is in constant contact with him as he recovers from an arm fracture," said Tottenham in a statement.

"Son will return to London when his military service concludes in May," added the club.

There is no specific date for the return of English football, after the Premier League announced last week the indefinite suspension of the competition beyond April 30, which was initially set as the return date.

"The 2019-2020 season will only resume when it is safe and appropriate to do so," stated the Premier League.
