Paris Saint-Germain announced on Friday that it raised over 200,000 euros (about 221,000 dollars) for French healthcare professionals fighting the coronavirus outbreak with the sale of a limited edition jersey.

The jersey is a replica of the one PSG wears when playing at home but has the words 'Tous Unis' (All Together) in the front, where the club's main sponsor logo usually appears, and badges supporting doctors on the sleeves.

The club confirmed on Twitter that it sold a batch of 1,500 jerseys through its online store on Thursday night and that all profits will be allocated to medical institutions.

"We cannot be grateful enough for the brave work that healthcare staff carry out every day to confront this emergency," said PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

More than 25,000 people have been infected by the virus in France and more than 1,300 have died, according to a Reuters count. (D)
