"The Earth seems to defend itself a little against man, who always thinks he can handle everything and knows everything," said Joachim Löw, the coach of Germany, about the new coronavirus pandemic.

During a press conference of the German Football Federation (DFB), Löw spoke via video from his residence in Freiburg, where he tries to "go out as little as possible".

"The world has experienced a collective burnout syndrome," said the World Cup-winning coach in 2014. "We couldn't accelerate the pace we had reached any further. The fires in Australia or Ebola barely changed us. But now we face something that affects all of humanity. That's when we realize what really matters: friends, family, respect for each other."

"It is important that we, as humans, take care of each other, that we are willing to help each other and that we respect the rules that have been set. For now, all of that is more important than football," said Joachim Löw.

Joachim Löw explained that he was staying at home: "I try to avoid social contact and spend as much time as possible with my family. I go out as little as possible, only for walks and bike rides, otherwise I stay at home," he confessed.
