"The Earth seems to be defending itself a bit against man, who always thinks he can do everything and knows everything," said Germany's coach Joachim Löw about the new coronavirus pandemic.
During a press conference of the German Federation (DFB), Löw participated via video from his residence in Freiburg, where he tries to "go out as little as possible".
"The world has experienced a collective burnout syndrome," said the world champion coach in 2014: "It was impossible to accelerate the pace we had reached. The fires in Australia or the Ebola barely changed us. But now we face something that affects all of humanity, and there we realize what really matters: friends, family, respect for each other".
"It is important for us, humans, to take care of each other, to be willing to help each other, and to respect the established rules. For now, all of that is more important than football".
Joachim Löw explained that he stayed at home: "I try to avoid social contacts and be as much as possible with my family. I go out as little as possible, only for a walk or bike ride, otherwise I stay at home," he confessed.
