Djokovic minimized Japanese player Yoshihito Nishioka, who came in good form to the match, defeating him with a strong 6-3, 6-2, and 6-2.

In addition, Djokovic secured his fiftieth passage to the round of 16 in a major competition after his victory against the Asian player on the Rod Laver Arena.
