Spanish Fernando Vázquez returns to Deportivo La Coruña
Spanish Fernando Vázquez has committed to Deportivo La Coruña until June 2022, thus closing his return to the Galician club, five and a half years later, with the aim of achieving permanence in LaLiga SmartBank (second division).
Deportivo, a historic club that once won the league with players such as Brazilians Bebeto or Mauro Silva, is going through one of the biggest crises in its history. The team, which had been built to achieve promotion to the first division, has been forced to fight against relegation after only achieving 2 victories and 9 draws in 21 matches.
After days of negotiations regarding an agreement that was already outlined last Monday and had been advanced by Efe, the Coruña club and the coach from Castrofeito have signed the contract that binds them together for the second time. The announcement has been made on social media.
The club, where Beto da Silva is currently playing, intended for the coach to take charge of the team on Saturday upon their return to training. However, it was not until Friday that Luis César was dismissed, a prerequisite for finalizing Vázquez's signing.
The new coach will lead the team in Monday's training session and will sit on the bench against Numancia on January 5th. EFE
