Sensational Adama Traoré impresses Tottenham players
Last Sunday, Tottenham faced Wolverhampton, a team that has grown considerably since Nuno Espirito Santo took over as coach. Although they were able to achieve victory (1-2), the Spurs were impressed by the sensational performance of a squad that prioritizes attack football and usually leads to very vibrant matches.
According to Football Insider, one of all the opponents stood out to the London team's players, the Spanish Adama Traoré (23 years old). So much so that, at the end of the match, several members of the squad approached their new coach, Portuguese José Mourinho, and urged him to recruit this promising winger who, in addition to having a great game, was able to score the goal that allowed his team to stay alive until the final stretch of the match.
Signed by the Wolves in the summer of 2018, it was not until this season that the L'Hospitalet de Llobregat native took a step forward and established himself as one of the new offensive references for the team. In his first campaign, the former Middlesbrough player struggled for continuity and failed to surpass the role of impact player (only 8 starts in the Premier League), a situation that has changed drastically this season (he has started in the starting eleven in 14 out of the 17 league matches played).
Although it remains to be seen if Mou listens to his players, the possible signing of Traoré is subject to tough negotiations, as his current contract extends until the distant June of 2023. When he was signed, the Wanderers had to pay €20m, so it seems clear that to give in, they will demand a much higher amount.
