Luis Enrique will take charge of the Spanish national team again, instead of his former assistant Robert Moreno, five months after leaving it due to the illness and subsequent death of one of his daughters, announced the president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales.
"Today we can confirm that Luis Enrique is returning to his position", said Rubiales in a press conference at the Ciudad del Futbol in Las Rozas.
Rubiales stated that Robert Moreno was the one who informed the federation officials that Luis Enrique was considering returning to coaching.
"We found out from Robert Moreno that Luis Enrique wanted to return to coaching," said Rubiales, assuring that they later spoke with the former coach, who "told us that he wants to return to his position, that he wants to coach again."
After considering this desire, the president of the RFEF and its sporting director, José Francisco Molina, spoke with Luis Enrique to offer him the position.
Luis Enrique returns to the national team exactly five months after resigning from it on June 19th, 2019 due to his daughter Xana's illness, who eventually passed away from cancer two months later. AFP
