Hamilton Wins Sixth Formula 1 Championship Title
Hamilton, 34, did not waste his second 'championship point' and captured his sixth title in the premier category of motorsports, with two races to go until the end of the season. He previously won in 2008 with McLaren and in 2014, 2015, and the past two seasons with his current team which also celebrated its sixth consecutive constructors' championship.
Bottas, who had secured pole position, passed Hamilton in the final laps to achieve his first victory in the United States Grand Prix. He completed the 56 laps of the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, with a time of 1h 40.351.
After Mercedes' one-two finish, Red Bull's Max Verstappen joined them on the podium while Ferrari's Charles Leclerc finished fourth.
Meanwhile, Red Bull's Alexander Albon made an impressive comeback after starting from the back of the grid due to a collision in the first lap with McLaren's Carlos Sainz - who finished eighth - to finish fifth.
The biggest loser of the race was German driver Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari. He started from the front row after setting the second-fastest time in qualifying but had to retire in the ninth lap due to a broken rear right suspension and control issues in turns 11 and 12 of the second sector, where his car came to a stop.
