With three runs in the eighth inning, the Kansas City Royals defeated the New York Mets 5-3 and are one win away from winning the World Series.

The champions of the American League attacked in the decisive inning against Tyler Clippard and Jeurys Familia when they were losing 2-3. Eric Hosmer hit a single to tie the game with Ben Zobrist's run, Mike Moustakas hit an RBI single to give the lead with Lorenzo Cain, and Salvador Pérez hit a single for Hosmer to cross the plate with the fifth run.

New York took a 2-0 lead in the third inning with a home run from Michael Conforto and a sacrifice fly from Curtis Granderson to bring Wilmer Flores home.

In the fifth inning, Alex Gordon brought Pérez home with a single to narrow the gap, and in the bottom of the inning Conforto hit his second home run of the game for a 3-1 lead.

Ryan Madson got the win, Wade Davis got the save, and Tyler Clippard took the loss.
