Real Sociedad defeats Betis in a rainy match

Betis arrived at this match with very adverse precedents in their games in San Sebastian, where they have not won since 2003, and they hoped that the new stadium, in the same location, would be more favorable to their interests.

The match started very well for Betis, who scored 0-1 on their first arrival after a great play on the wing by Barragán and a precise, and also beautiful, shot by Loren Morón.

Initially, the goal of the Verdiblancos was disallowed for an offside by Barragán, and the VAR was consulted in a few minutes of anguish for the local fans, who confirmed their worst fears when Soto Grado allowed the goal to be shown on the stadium's giant screens.

The joy in the Betis camp didn't last long as the Donostiarras went all out in search of the equalizer, which came ten minutes later from a free-kick which was followed up by Monreal and Javi García, in an attempt to clear the ball, put it into Joel's goal.

With this goal, the Sevillians lost their composure, and Real Sociedad dominated the match as they pleased, scoring a remarkable second goal in a first-time shot by Brazilian Willian José from Zaldua's cross.

Betis' best chance before halftime came from a shot from outside the box, which was well saved by Remiro, while Portu had a clearer opportunity for the home team with Joel beaten, but the shot by the Murcian forward was cleared off the line by Barragán, avoiding the Basques from fully securing the victory.

Real Sociedad didn't need much help in this match because they were unchained in their attacking game, constantly threatening with their arrivals; the team was enjoying themselves and making the crowd enjoy their good football.

The third goal came as another masterpiece from Real Sociedad; Odegaard started it with a high ball looped into Joel's area, there, Oyarzabal protected it and assisted Portu, who scored a great goal to seal his fantastic performance.

Betis tried, although the feeling was that they wouldn't even have a chance to equalize, something they could have approached if Joaquín's shot from a free-kick rebounding off the crossbar had gone in.
