The Real Zaragoza obtains a crucial victory

A goal from Iñigo Eguaras in the final stretch of the match (minute 80) allowed Real Zaragoza to obtain an important victory in their visit to Numancia's field. The Aragonese team, which had missed a penalty minutes before, had a good second half and finally achieved a victory that helps them leave behind the setback of last weekend against Cádiz and reach the third position in the table.

Real Zaragoza's hopes for promotion

This brief summary of yesterday's match reflects faithfully the mood of a team that, after an absolutely disastrous season in which it was threatened with relegation, is feeling strong again to fight for promotion to the top category.

Reasons for hope

Although the season in the Second Division seems eternal and any situation can be turned around relatively easily, the truth is that at La Romareda they are starting to find reasons to at least dream of promotion until the final moments. The presence of the historic and charismatic Víctor Fernández in the dugout, the scoring ability of Colombian Luis Suárez, the differentiating touch that Shinji Kagawa sometimes brings, and the notable performances of players like Carlos Nieto, Pichu Atienza, Cristian Álvarez, Raúl Guti, Javi Ros, or the aforementioned Eguaras are some of the factors that the suffering fans hold on to.

Will this be the season?

Since being relegated to the second division (end of the 2012-2013 season), Real Zaragoza has always tried to build a project capable of fighting for promotion, but the truth is that they have only managed to reach the playoffs twice. In fact, during this period, they have had three seasons finishing below the 13th position. Will the 2019-2020 season be the one that leads them back to the elite?
