Russia becomes third nation to qualify for Euro 2020
Russia became the third nation to qualify for Euro 2020, which will be played from June 12 to July 12 in 12 countries, after achieving a resounding victory against Cyprus on Sunday (5-0).
With their seventh victory in eight rounds of the European qualifiers, Russia joins Belgium and Italy, the other two nations already qualified.
Italy secures qualification for Euro 2020
Italy, who missed out on the 2018 World Cup, a national disaster, made amends on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Greece in Rome to return to the spotlight in the upcoming European tournament.
Russia, which had a remarkable performance in the 2018 World Cup it hosted, reaching the quarterfinals, had also participated in the 2016 Eurocup but failed to advance from the group stage.
San Petersburg to host Euro 2020
San Petersburg will be the Russian host city for Euro 2020, which is being organized in 12 countries to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the competition.
France, England, Ukraine, Portugal, and Turkey can secure their presence in Euro 2020 in their Monday matches, although most of them will need help from others. (D)
