Acts of violence during the Atlético Bucaramanga vs Envigado match for the Liga Águila in Colombia resulted in the death of a fan.

A fan of Atlético Bucaramanga, from the Colombian league, died after falling from a stand at the Alfonso López stadium, the police reported.

The incident occurred at the end of the match in which the Bucaramanga team, the capital of the Santander department (northeast), lost 2-3 to Envigado and there were clashes between the "Leopard" fans and the police resulting in 10 police officers injured.

The deceased, identified as José Ángel Reina, 32 years old, fell from the upper part of the south stand at Alfonso López. "We deeply regret this news. We stand in solidarity with Atlético Bucaramanga, the family, and friends of the 'Leopard' fan," Envigado said on their Twitter account.

The fans in that stand threw sticks and pipes at the police, who defended themselves with their batons. The commander of the Bucaramanga Police, General Manuel Vásquez, said that the fans tried to enter the field and cross to the western stand.

"They attacked the police and caused injuries to 10 of them, who were treated at a medical center and fortunately are stable," he said.

Last weekend, in the match between Independiente Medellín and Millonarios, a fan threw an open knife from the stands near where David Macalister Silva, a player for the Bogota team, was.

In response to this situation, the Colombian Football Division (Dimayor), which organizes the league, reported the person who threw the knife to the Prosecutor's Office for "the crime of using or throwing dangerous substances or objects".

They also ordered the closure of the stand from which the knife fell for two matches and imposed a fine of 6.5 million pesos (about 1,900 dollars) on Independiente Medellín "for the improper behavior of the spectators."
