Manchester United falls to West Ham United in the Premier League
Manchester United continues to leave bitter feelings in the Premier League as they fell 2-0 at the Olympic Stadium in London against West Ham United.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men suffered the blow of an Andriy Yarmolenko goal just before halftime and were left without solutions to unlock the game in London.
Without Paul Pogba or Anthony Martial, both injured, Solskjaer once again trusted Juan Mata in the attacking midfield, young Daniel James on one wing, and Nemanja Matic and Scott McTominay as midfielders.
It didn't work for United to create danger against the 'Hammers', who dominated and frustrated the visitors before scoring just before the break.
In the 44th minute, a great combination initiated by captain Mark Noble ended with a left-footed shot from Yarmolenko and David de Gea couldn't do anything to prevent the goal.
In the second half, the bad news continued for the 'Red Devils'. Marcus Rashford got injured, leaving Solskjaer without forwards, and he had to put Jesse Lingard up front. Furthermore, Mata missed a great opportunity for United, failing to score from practically an empty net at the far post.
Only De Gea kept his team in the game, especially with a great low save against Felipe Anderson, but he couldn't prevent a great free-kick goal from Aaron Cresswell seven minutes before the end.
United, who had not experienced a defeat since August 24th, dropped to eighth position in the table with eight points, while Manuel Pellegrini's West Ham is fourth with eleven points.
In the other game played on Sunday, Wolverhampton Wanderers continue without winning this season and drew with Crystal Palace at the last minute. A Leo Dendoncker own goal tilted the game in favor of Palace, but deep into added time, Diogo Jota equalized, despite Wolves playing with one less player due to Romain Saiss' red card.
This result doesn't do much for Wolves, who remain second to last in the table with four points, but at least it breaks their streak of three consecutive losses.
