Paris -
Spain got another victory on their way to Euro 2020, raising their perfect record to five wins in their qualifying group after defeating Romania (2-1) as a visitor in Bucharest on Thursday.
With 15 points, Spain leads Group F with a perfect path after completing the first round and securing a victory against each of their five rivals in the group, putting them on the launch ramp towards next year's Eurocup.
Spain's lead is 5 points ahead of second-placed Sweden (10), which had no problems defeating the Faroe Islands (4-0) as expected.
Norway is now third in the group with 8 points after a 2-0 win over Malta (5th, 3 points) in Oslo, while Romania, who started the day in second place, drops to fourth with 7 points.
In the National Stadium of Bucharest, La Roja, in Robert Moreno's official debut as coach, took the lead in the 29th minute with a penalty converted by Sergio Ramos.
Paco Alcácer increased Spain's advantage at the beginning of the second half (47), easily pushing a cross from Jordi Alba into the net.
Florian Andone reduced the Romanian's disadvantage in the 59th minute, but the score didn't change again, even though Spain was reduced to ten men after Diego Llorente's dismissal in the 79th minute.
Their next test will be on Sunday in Gijón against the Faroe Islands. (D)
