Dominic Barona advanced to the second round of the Caraibos Lacanau Pro 2019.

This Thursday the women's competition of the Caraïbos Lacanau Pro started in France, and the Ecuadorian representative Dominic Barona secured a spot to compete in the second round.

The athlete from Montañita placed second in her heat with an average of 6.57. The first-place qualifier was the local Neis Lartigue (9.40).

With that score, the silver medalist in the open surf category at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games advanced to the second round of the QS event and will compete in heat 4 on Friday against Jenna Cinedrawa (New Caledonia), Gabriela Bryan (Hawaii), and Camilla Kemp (Portugal).

'Mimi' traveled to French territory last Saturday in search of points for the Women's Qualifying Series (WQS) ranking.

After the Caraïbos Lacanau Pro, Barona plans to travel to Spain, Japan, and Indonesia, and then will wait for confirmation of three more events. (D)
