Discord, the internet voice chat application with over 250 million users, announced that it will launch a new streaming platform called Discord Go Live. This service, which will arrive on August 15th in the app, will allow any user to stream their video game matches through any voice channel with up to 10 users at once.
At first, we might think that Discord wants to compete against Twitch or Mixer. But nothing could be further from the truth, Discord wants us to feel comfortable in front of a limited audience, and for the experience to be as close as possible to showing a new video game to our friends and family in the privacy of our bedroom or living room. No additional program or app will need to be added, Go Live will take care of everything.

This new service will have some limitations and exclusive features depending on the subscription we use. On one hand, those with Nitro membership will be able to access 60 fps and 4K in their streams, while players who enjoy Nitro Classic will have options up to 1080p resolution and 60 fps. If we are Discord members but do not pay for a membership, we will have a limitation of 720p and 30 frames per second.
It's a new simple, very direct option that does not include webcam support and is a special experiment within Discord's offerings. Unfortunately, macOS and Linux are currently not compatible with this service, but they can access it through a browser. Soon, according to the company, this option will be opened to more systems and mobile phones.
