The universe of "Stranger Things" continues to expand

The universe of "Stranger Things" has been gradually expanding each season. In the second season, 'Max', 'Billy', and 'Erica' joined the team of protagonists, while in the third part, Robin Buckley (Maya Hawke) arrived and played a great role in the development of the story.

Now, actress Maya Hawke has spoken about her character and broke her silence about the relationship that 'Robin' could have had with 'Steve' if the script had not been changed on the fly.

At the beginning of the third season of "Stranger Things", many thought that 'Robin' and 'Steve' would end up together. They originally hated each other, but then they started getting along and everything pointed to a new teenage love story. However, everyone is astonished when 'Robin' confesses that she is gay.

According to Maya Hawke, this aspect of her character was not planned in the original script, which also intended for 'Robin' and 'Steve' to end up together.

"The Duffer Brothers, Shawn Levy (producer of Stranger Things), and I talked a lot during the filming, and it wasn't until we shot episodes four and five, I think, that we decided on it. It was a very collaborative conversation, and I am very happy with how it happened," she told Variety.

With this, Maya also hoped that highlighting 'Robin's' sexuality would help viewers accept and respect gay people around them.

"Sometimes we feel empathy for people on screen that we wouldn't normally feel in real life... If I hope for anything with this, it's that maybe some people love Robin so much that it has also helped them love girls who love girls and boys who love boys," she emphasized.
