Porto announced on Friday the signing of Argentine international goalkeeper AgustÃn MarchesÃn to replace Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas, now part of the technical team of the Portuguese team, after the heart attack he suffered last May.
MarchesÃn, 31, comes from the Mexican team América for the next four seasons, until June 2023, the Portuguese club said in a statement.
The Portuguese team does not provide the figures of the operation, but according to the sports newspaper 'A Bola', the transfer would have been carried out for 7.2 million euros.
"I am very happy and grateful for this opportunity, I come to give everything and I hope that together we can achieve important things," MarchesÃn said in a video on Porto's social media.
The new goalkeeper of the 'Dragons' did not forget the fans of the Mexican América, the club where he played since January 2017.
"I want to send a big greeting to my friends from América, obviously I am going to miss you a lot but well, I know you will miss me too, and please support me here in Porto, it's a unique experience for me, you know it," MarchesÃn said in another video, thanking América fans for their support during his time in the Mexican team.
MarchesÃn will replace Casillas in Porto's goal, who suffered a myocardial infarction in May.
In mid-July, the Portuguese club announced that Casillas, 38, would "be part of the team's staff" as a "link between the players, the coach and the management," while he finishes his recovery. AFP
