Peruvian Alonso Correa did not start the best way in the 2019 Pan American Games. This after losing in round 1 to Costa Rican Noe Mar McGonagle; however, he has been able to advance in the repechage zone.
In repechage round 2, Alonso Correa defeated Canadian Cody Yong in Punta Rocas after scoring 16.00 against his rival's 11.47. The national open surf competitor (shortboard) always stayed ahead in the two waves.
Alonso Correa first scored 9.17 points, while Young stayed at 6.97. In the second wave, he scored 6.83; meanwhile, the Canadian scored 4.50.
With that, Alonso Correa advanced to the third round of the repechage and will face Argentinean Leandro Uzuna tomorrow at the Punta Rocas Sports Complex in the 2019 Pan American Games.
