The city of Zipaquirá woke up this Sunday prepared to celebrate the victory of one of its most illustrious sons, Colombian cyclist Egan Bernal, virtual champion of the Tour de France.
From the early morning hours, street vendors filled the La Esperanza park in the town, next to the train station, and shouted their products to commemorate the sporting achievement.
Flags, Colombian national football team jerseys, and also replicas of Bernal's yellow jersey multiplied on the corners and streets of this small city known for hosting the Salt Cathedral, considered Colombia's first wonder.

The road that connects Bogotá with Zipaquirá, 43 kilometers long, was populated in the early hours of the morning by cyclists who left from the Colombian capital to celebrate Bernal's achievement in the town where he arrived as a child.
There were hundreds of curious neighbors who took to the streets to follow this final stage of the Tour de France in which, barring a catastrophe, Egan will be crowned champion.
For this purpose, the Municipality of Zipaquirá installed a giant screen in the main square to follow the final stage and also remember other successes of cycling in the area, where the first champion of the Vuelta Colombia, Efraín "El Zipa" Forero, was born.
