Through an extensive statement shared on Tumblr, the singer expressed her indignation because she was not given the opportunity to buy her own songs.

Taylor Swift feels "sad and disgusted" because her former manager, Scooter Braun - who currently manages the careers of stars like Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and Demi Lovato, and whom she accuses of harassing and bullying her - has just acquired the record label Big Machine Label Group, and with it, the rights to all her music.

In an extensive statement she shared on her Tumblr account, Taylor Swift expressed her outrage. "I found out that Scooter Braun bought my masters as soon as it was announced to the world. All I can think about is the relentless and manipulative abuse I endured from him for years", wrote the singer.

According to Billboard, Scooter Braun's Ithaca Holdings acquired Big Machine Label Group from its founder Scott Borchetta as part of a $300 million deal. This means that the masters (original sound recordings) of the songs from Taylor Swift's first six albums will be in Braun's hands.

"He has stripped me of my life's work, and not even to buy it myself. Basically, my musical legacy is going into the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it", pointed out the "Shake it off" singer, adding, "This is my worst-case scenario".

"This is what happens when you sign a deal at 15 with someone for whom the term 'loyalty' is clearly just a contractual concept. And when that man says, 'Music has value', he means its value is determined by men who didn't help create it", she stated.

Despite facing such a bleak situation, Taylor Swift remains optimistic about the future of her music, as she signed with Universal Music Group in November 2018, a record label that allows her to own the rights to her own music.

"Fortunately, I have now signed with a company that believes I should own everything I create. I left my past in Scott's hands (Scott Borchetta, former owner of Big Machine Label Group), but not my future. You deserve to own the art you make", concluded Taylor Swift in her message.
