America beats Fuerza Amarilla 2-0 at the start of the second stage of the national championship in the B series, and remains firm at the top of the cumulative classification table, which will determine promotions and relegations at the end of the tournament.
The hosts controlled the game and opened the scoring with a header from Federico Laurito in the 21st minute, while Ronie Carrillo made it 2-0 in the 72nd minute, consolidating America's dominance against a discreet offensive performance from the Machaleño team.
With the victory, the cebollitas maintain their lead in the standings over their pursuers, who alternated positions in this round.
Mushuc Runa moved up to second place in this round, taking advantage of Olmedo's stumble and with a win at home, they climbed the table. Goals from Carlos Quintero (29m) and Fabio Renato (62m) allowed the ponchito team to beat Puerto Quito 2-1, who scored through Tomás Escobar (74m).
Olmedo lost 2-1 away to Liga de Loja, in a match that the university team had to come back from the advantage achieved by William Cevallos (33m) for the Andean cyclone. The goals for the home team came in the second half with Byron Cano (52m) and Arnaldo Valverde (65m).
The bottom teams on the standings also added points. Clan Juvenil defeated Liga de Portoviejo 1-0 at home with a goal from Aldair Villa in the 52nd minute, a victory that allows Sangolquileños to stay out of the relegation zone.
Gualaceo drew 2-2 with Manta as visitors, and although they added points, they remained in eleventh place. The Azuayos took the lead with Néstor Guerrero in the 15th minute, and Hernán Zanni equalized (44m) just before halftime. In the second half, the tuna fishermen took the lead with a goal from Leandro Pantoja (52m), but Jorge Detona equalized in the 68th minute.
