The new project of Atletico Madrid begins to take shape

After ensuring the continuity of Antoine Griezmann and acquiring the services of goalkeeper Antonio Adán, midfielder Rodri Hernández and left winger Thomas Lemar, the board is now working on the signing of another couple of players who will improve the competitiveness of the attack: right winger Gelson Martins and striker Nikola Kalinic.

As reported by Marca, the signing of both players now only depends on reaching an agreement with their respective clubs. In fact, the two players have already given their consent to the "colchonero" club, which is confident of closing their signings in a short period of time.

In the case of Kalinic, the agreement with AC Milan depends on finalizing the amount of the mandatory buyout option that will be included in the loan agreement for this season. Although the rossoneri wanted to obtain around €20M, it is possible that the stipulated amount will be €18M.

The agreement with Sporting CP is more complex. Although the forward previously used what is known in the neighboring country as "just cause" to terminate his contract, Atletico Madrid wants to avoid problems and prefers to pay a compensation rather than facing any future claims from the Lisbon-based team. However, if they cannot find a solution (currently there is talk of €25M plus the transfer of Luciano Vietto and André Moreira), the "colchoneros" do not rule out recruiting Gelson as a free agent and waiting for developments.
