Spanish footballer Fernando Torres joins Sagan Tosu
In a press conference held on Tuesday, Fernando Torres announced the team he will be playing for in the upcoming season, after ending his contract with his beloved club, Atlético de Madrid.
The 'Niño' has become the new forward for Sagan Tosu in Japan, a country where he will have a compatriot as his rival: Andrés Iniesta, the current player of Vissel Kobe.
"Sagan Tosu was one of the first clubs that showed interest in me. They have convinced me with their sporting and life project. I believe that Japan and the Japanese league will be a great experience. They have made a great effort and they believe that I can be one of the solutions for the team to return to where it should be," said the 34-year-old Spanish forward.
"I wanted to enjoy the last days I had at Atlético. I wanted to think about what was best for me and my family. It has been a very thoughtful decision," he added. "It is an honor for Fernando Torres to join our team," said Yukihiro Igawa, president of Sagan Tosu.
