In a match that gained intensity and saw goals only in the second half, Macará and Emelec tied 2-2 on Sunday at the Bellavista stadium, for the penultimate round of the national championship.
A well-placed header by Marlon De Jesús after connecting a corner kick from Hólger Matamoros put the electric team ahead in the 52nd minute.
A minute before the goal, Brayan Angulo had a great opportunity to open the scoring, through a frontal attack in which he failed to shoot due to the pressure from an opponent.
The equalizer for the Ambato team was made by Leonel Quiñónez in the 60th minute, also with a header after a corner kick. The header went in close to the right post of goalkeeper Esteban Dreer.
The local celebration didn't last long. In the 63rd minute, 'Cuco' Angulo put the Guayaquil team ahead again by receiving a great assist from De Jesús and finishing off-crossed to the right post of Adonnis Pabón.
But the Macará players reacted and surpassed the vulnerable electric defense through aerial play. With the same formula as the first goal -by Quiñónez-, the 'Búfalo' Juan Manuel Tévez beat Dreer with a well-directed header (71st minute).
Emelec remains fourth in the table (34 points); while the Ambato blue team, which by the way, today said goodbye to midfielder Carlos Feraud -to play in Saudi Arabian football-, occupies the seventh place with 27 points.
