Luis Suárez, forward of the Uruguay National Team, declared, after being eliminated from the World Cup by France in the quarterfinals, that the absence of his teammate Edinson Cavani was essential.
The forward of Paris Saint-Germain could not play due to a left calf injury suffered in the round of 16 match against Portugal. His teammate in the attacking line recognized that his absence was important.
"The absence of Cavani has been essential for us because of the kind of player he is. He had scored two goals, but those who played in his place did their best and gave everything for the team. But it's not an excuse," he declared.
In addition, he also spoke about Óscar Washington Tabárez and his possible continuity after his contract with the Uruguay National Team expired after the World Cup.
