The Uruguay national team continues to prepare for their last match in the group stage against Russia and in the last practice, defender José María Giménez suffered a pulled muscle in his thigh, so he was ruled out for the match against the host team.
"The Medical Staff of the AUF informs that player José María Giménez will not be considered for the match against Russia next Monday due to a right quadriceps injury, undergoing physiotherapy treatment. The player is doing individual work. Evolution will be evaluated for return to group training," reported the Uruguayan Football Association.
For the match against the Russians, the replacement for the Atletico Madrid defender will be Sebastián Coates, who will accompany Diego Godín in the center of Uruguay's defense.
