Quarterback Christian Hackenberg continues with his eventful offseason.
First, the New York Jets traded Hackenberg to the Oakland Raiders in exchange for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2019, a pick they will not have to pay after cutting him after just three weeks.
On Thursday, Hackenberg visited the New England Patriots, according to Field Yates of ESPN, in search of an opportunity to continue his career in the NFL where he has yet to throw a single regular-season pass.
Hackenberg, drafted by the Jets in the second round of the 2016 draft out of Penn State, is the third quarterback selected in either of the first two rounds in the common draft era to not play in an NFL game in his first two seasons. The last person it happened to was Jim Kelly, but he went on to play in the USFL at the start of his career.
