Facebook cannot escape from problems. It turns out that the social network of Mark Zuckerberg has announced that it was a victim of a software bug that turned all private posts into public ones.
Users of Facebook have the option to share content privately with their friends. What has happened is that the bug activated this content to be public during 10 days of the month of May.
The bug affected possibly around 14 million people. Starting this Thursday, June 7th, Facebook will begin to notify all these users to warn them about the privacy issue.
"We have fixed this problem and, starting today, we inform all affected users and ask them to review the posts they made during that time", said the chief privacy officer of Facebook, Erin Egan.
"Just to be clear, this bug did not affect anything that people had posted before, and they could still choose their audience as they always did", she added.
This new scandal in Facebook's security adds up to the possible data leakage of users to Chinese companies specializing in mobile technology.
