Dreams do come true for Santiago Arroyave
No doubt that when one sets their mind to it, nothing is impossible. Santiago Arroyave, an 18-year-old footballer who is missing an arm, fulfilled his dream and made history by debuting in a match for the Copa Águila in Colombia.
A moment of joy
When the match between Los Leones and Deportivo Pereira was in its final minutes, the coach of the team called him to enter the field of play. The excitement was immediate as Santiago showed great happiness upon hearing his name among the selected players.
Inspiring despite challenges
The footballer entered the match for the last five minutes, and although his team ended up losing 1-0, he received applause from the entire stadium and players from both teams congratulated him. Despite not having his left arm, Santiago's condition did not prevent him from pursuing his passion.
An extraordinary journey
Santiago was born with phocomelia, a birth defect characterized by the absence of bones and muscles in the upper or lower limbs.
