Atlas misses the playoffs after a year

After a year, the team took a step back. Atlas missed the playoffs after a year where they were protagonists, saved their category, but they shouldn't even have had to fight in a battle that seemed saved long ago.

The management made mistakes again with the reinforcements. Out of the three players who arrived, one left halfway through the tournament, another lost his position in the first games, and Ángelo Henríquez was the one who played the most, although he wasn't considered in the starting eleven.

The semester for the Zorros was filled with bad decisions, from the departure of José Guadalupe Cruz, the interim management of Gerardo Espinoza, Rubén Omar Romano, and the few games in charge before handing the responsibility back to the 'Loco' towards the end of the season.

After a year with 25 and 26 points respectively, the rojinegros only earned 18 points in Clausura 2018, largely helped by the work done by Gerardo Espinoza, who finished the season perfectly with 11 out of 15 possible points.

It's no wonder that people took advantage of the home games and the presence of the management more than once to demand the departure of President Gustavo Guzmán, as they feel that he hasn't delivered the promised results since taking office.

The Zorros also bet on the figure of a Sporting Director once again after more than two years of having the position vacant. Even though he is not well-known in Mexican football, Fabricio Bassa has been working behind the scenes, away from the spotlight, seeking accountability.

Not everything was so bad, as in the crisis there was time to return to the origins and discover young players who can support the team in future tournaments. People like Edyairth Ortega, Ulises Cardona, José Hernández, and Ismael Govea, who had their chance in the top league.

After a great 2017, with the team in the spotlight, the management took a step back due to bad decisions, also pushed by the low level of some players. Some of them will surely have to find a new club to continue their careers.
