For the fourth consecutive date, Fuerza Amarilla maintained the leadership in the B series. The Machala team drew 0-0 in their visit to Olmedo, which in turn stopped following the leader and dropped two positions. Mushuc Runa and Santa Rita climbed up, the only clubs that won in this eighth matchday.
Fuerza Amarilla won 1-0 against Manta, on the fifth date; then they achieved victories over Puerto Quito and Clan Juvenil. In this match, they did not triumph in Riobamba, but the draw allowed them to remain distant from their pursuers; besides, together with Ciclón de los Andes, they are the only unbeaten teams.
The team from "El Ponchito" was the surprise of the matchday. They went to the Reales Tamarindos stadium and defeated Liga de Portoviejo 3-1, who would have been in second place if they had won.
The Brazilian Claudio Alves opened the scoring at minute 33 and Mushuc Runa took the lead. Richard Mercado quickly equalized (minute 40). After halftime, Juan Realpe (minute 70) and Alves again (minute 80) sealed the victory for the team from Ambato.
Santa Rita also won away from home. Striker Narciso Mina (minute 71) scored the only goal with which the team from Vinces defeated Orense 1-0 at the 9 de Mayo stadium in Machala.
Aside from the 0-0 at the Fernando Guerrero stadium in Riobamba, there was no goal at the Gerardo León stadium. The last place, Gualaceo, and Liga de Loja failed to score.
At the General Rumiñahui stadium in Sangolquí there were goals, but only to register the 1-1 draw between Clan Juvenil and Manta. Christian "el Diablito" Lara scored for the "juveniles" (minute 40), while Jorge Palacios scored for the tuna team (minute 63).
At the Olímpico stadium in Santo Domingo there were four celebrations, and the match between Puerto Quito and América ended in a 2-2 draw.
The Argentine Óscar Belinetz opened the scoring for the home team (minute 5). José Cifuentes equalized (minute 30). José Carabalí put Puerto Quito back in the lead (minute 61) and when the match was ending, the "cebollitas" sealed it with a goal from Kevin Jauch (minute 90 +3).
