David Moyes has revealed midfielder Pedro Obiang could return to action before the end of the season having been ruled out for the past three months.

The Spaniard injured his knee in a challenge with Wigan's Max Power during the Hammers' 2-0 FA Cup fourth round defeat at the DW Stadium on January 27 and was expected to miss the remainder of the campaign having injured medial cruciate ligaments.

He was expected to miss the rest of the campaign after travelling back to Spain to undergo surgery on his knee and return for the start of pre-season ahead of 2018/19.

But, his manager has revealed the 26-year-old could be available before this campaign is out.

Speaking at his press conference ahead of the clash with Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday afternoon, Moyes said: "Pedro Obiang has made good progress and he could be back by the end of the season.

"We have a few back, Andy Carroll and Manuel Lanzini came back for the Stoke game. James Collins isn’t ready yet, so it’s probably as it was for Stoke."

Obiang penned a new five-year contract at West Ham ahead of the start of this season having enjoyed a breakout year in 2016/17 under Slaven Bilic.
