The Santa Cruz defender, Luis Alberto Gutiérrez, underwent successful surgery on his right fifth metatarsal at a clinic in Argentina. Now, he will go through the recovery stage to be able to contribute to Bolívar in the second half of the year.

Bolívar Club was responsible for announcing Gutiérrez's health status. They stated through their social media platforms that the morning surgery was a complete success. It is expected that the defender will return to the country in the coming days to begin his recovery process.

"Luis Gutiérrez left the operating room around 8 o'clock in the morning in Buenos Aires. The one-hour surgery was a complete success. The joint region is currently reduced and articulated with a pin and supporting shoe bandage, which will be progressively adjusted after 24 hours post-surgery," the club wrote.

The institution also shared photos of Gutiérrez, showing him with crutches and recovering in bed after the surgery. He is expected to be back on the field within three months.

Gutiérrez suffered from an ailment in his right fifth metatarsal, which is why he decided to have surgery in Argentina in order to not worsen his condition and be able to play for the rest of the year with the Bolivar team.
