The president of Junior de Barranquilla, Antonio Char, confirmed on Tuesday that Julio Comesaña will be the coach of the Colombian team again, leading it for the eighth time, after Alexis Mendoza's departure.
In statements to journalists at the club's headquarters, Char expressed that the Colombian-Uruguayan will arrive in Barranquilla on Wednesday to take charge of the team.
Julio Comesaña, who was on the sidelines of the team until last December, will take over the helm of the shark squad for the eighth time after having coached them in 1991, 1992, 1997, 2002, 2008, 2014, and 2017.
Comesaña's achievement can be a worldwide record in football, as according to various records, the coaches who have directed the same team the most times in different periods are, with seven, Comesaña himself and the late Spanish Luis Aragonés at Atlético de Madrid.
Char explained that the board of directors of Junior de Barranquilla chose Comesaña because he is a coach who knows the team and Colombian football very well.
