Ascenso MX Top Scorers
Much is said about the lack of Mexican champions in the goal-scoring table in the Primera División; however, in the Ascenso MX, for the fifth consecutive time, this mention went to a player born in our country.
Guillermo Martínez from Mineros is the current goal-scoring champion after finishing the regular phase of Clausura 2018 in the silver league with 11 goals, surpassing the Argentine player Leonardo Ramos from Cafetaleros, who only reached seven goals.
But it is not the first time that a Mexican has been the top scorer in the second division, since for Apertura 2017, Luis Madrigal (Alebrijes de Oaxaca) reached 12 goals, crowning himself as the top scorer.
In Clausura 2017, Lobos BUAP's player, Diego Jiménez, consolidated himself as the top scorer of the tournament by scoring 10 goals, contributing to his team's qualification to the playoffs, where they became champions and later managed to defeat Dorados in the Promotion Final, securing the ticket to move up to the Primera División.
Additionally, Roberto Nurse, who is already Mineros' all-time top scorer, scored 16 goals in Apertura 2016, becoming the goal-scoring champion of that tournament.
Finally, Ismael Valadéz, former Cafetaleros player, started this good streak of Mexicans in the second division, after being the leading scorer in Clausura 2016 with 10 goals.
