Everything was getting ready for the rematch between Saúl 'Canelo' Álvarez and Gennady Golovkin this May 5th in Las Vegas. However, the Mexican tested positive in a doping test, putting the second fight on hold.
The Nevada Athletic Commission decided to suspend 'Canelo' Álvarez after finding clenbuterol, an anabolic substance that aids muscle growth, in his blood. Executive Director Bob Bennett informed about it.
Although 'Canelo' Álvarez will meet with the Nevada Commission on April 10th for a final decision on his case, there is a danger that the fight against Gennady may not take place. That's why a former world middleweight champion has already offered to replace the Mexican.
It's Demetrius Andrade, who was a world champion in the super welterweight category in the WBA and WBO. The American said he is ready to face the challenge and take 'Canelo Álvarez' place on May 5th.

"I'm ready, I have the will and I'm capable of stepping into the ring to face Golovkin," commented Andrade. "I will submit to tests by the World Anti-Doping Agency and I guarantee you I will pass all tests," he added.
