Is it a mockery aimed at Tigres for their elimination in the Concacaf Champions League? We don't know, but Sebastian Giovinco posted a meme on his Instagram stories and immediately the content went viral.
When the quarter-final match of the Central American tournament was tied at one goal each, as a result of an own goal by Rafael Carioca and an equalizer by Jesús Dueñas, the referee called a free kick for Toronto FC.
The one in charge of taking the free kick, as it could not be otherwise, was Sebastian Giovinco. The Italian midfielder, a specialist in this type of set-pieces, scored the 2-1 for his team with a spectacular shot that left Nahuel Guzmán no chance.
At the end of the game - with a 3-2 victory for Tigres thanks to a double by André-Pierre Gignac - the Canadian team celebrated their qualification and, at that moment, Sebastian Giovinco shared content on Instagram.
The first two stories are related to videos about the qualification in the Concacaf Champions League. But the third one has been the viral meme on Instagram that shows that the media prefers free kicks over penalties.
